I was commissioned to create a loading screen for a homebrew retro video game emulation project. I was given the name of the machine to incorporate into the design, but was otherwise given a lot of freedom.
This design uses a clean modern look with the various squares being the arrangement and colours of the buttons on the joysticks/pads of every major console that the system was emulating, from the Atari 2600 and to the North American SNES.
In addition I created a second option that was designed to evoke the loading screens of classic computer systems like the Commodore 64 and the Amiga, including limiting the colour palette to better create the illusion.
